Enterprise Edge Router Upgrade Guide

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Santa Clara, California (July 16th, 2012) – Router Analysis, a leader in on-site and lab based router testing is pleased to announce the release of its free report entitled “Enterprise Edge Router Upgrade Guide“.  The report looks at the options for upgrading from a Cisco 7200VXR Series router (and other software based forwarding routers)  to a hardware based forwarding router supporting 10 Gigabit Ethernet.

The Cisco 7200VXR Series routers, while the standard for connecting enterprise networks to the Internet, are unable to support the necessary 10 Gigabit Ethernet port speeds required in today’s connected world.  Options for upgrading include Cisco’s ASR1000 Series routers, Juniper’s MX40/80 3D Ethernet routers and Huawei’s NE40E-X Series routers.  In this special report Router Analysis’ world class testing facilities have included in-depth testing data for the Cisco ASR1004.

Utilizing the latest in IXIA testing equipment and software, the Router Analysis lab looked at the forwarding performance of the ASR1004 for both the current IPv4 and next generation IPv6 protocols.  A complete test suite was designed and executed specifically for this report.  The test suite includes: Access List Filtering, Unicast Reverse Path Forwarding, QoS, Netflow and MPLS.  Samples of the tests executed and results are included in the report.  Extra data including all test cases, results, router and IXIA configurations are available for companies looking for a more complete review.
