NetDEF Progress and Router Analysis Projects

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on Router Analysis so here is an update.

Everything is going well for NetDEF, projects are in place, some funding is in place and we are ready to ramp up.

Router Analysis will be a project under NetDEF and start reviewing many of the switches and routers we have been working with over the last few months.

Martin Winter will be attending RIPE in October as co-chair of the Open Source Working Group.

I will continue to spend most of my time being a Father and the CTO of Sideband Networks (in that order).

The NetDEF organization will launch and provide more information about the projects it is supporting before October 27th, 2013.

Here is a list of equipment that Router Analysis plans to look at:

Cisco Nexus 6000 series switches

Pica8‘s new switches (and their latest OS 2.0)

Cumulus Network’s OS on current generation hardware

Arista’s line of 1U switches

Dell’s new S5000 switch

and

Intel Alta based switches

I am excited for the end of the year, with all of the work on SDN and NFV coming along, the switch reviews will have more value.  We plan to test and report with those concepts in mind.
